Note that chemical castration doesn't actually damage the genitals, just severely drops libido and compulsive sexual behavior. Supposedly it can be reversed by stopping treatment with no adverse effects. Still, I dunno. Part of me sees this as strong protective measures, but I wouldn't have someone's hands paralyzed for stabbing someone to death. I'd like to see some good studies on this, I suppose. It still sounds more humane than life imprisonment or death, but does it work?Punishing aberrant behavior by taking away the capacity for normal behavior might be necessary occasionally, but it still seems a bit strange.
