I'm pretty sure that Quantum Theory sounds nothing at all like an AP class.
Most people use Javascript to add functionality to web pages - update the contents of list X, after the user makes a selection in list Y, is typical example - and for that purpose, it's both perfectly suited and pretty awful. Most people who moan about JS have only ever done that kind of code. And most people end up learning that because it's just necessary to get the functionality a client wants. So they build a website, jamming little bits of code here and there to acheive these results. Then, some time later, they might find out about jquery, and they marvel at how perfect it is for doing these little jobs. It's a new kind of object model but it works so well within a web page that it's scary. But, there are some lucky developers who have a background in big, heavy applications, and they end up working on a project where desktop type functionality is needed in a web browser. They have been using C or Java or C# for years, and as they work on this project they begin to see that they should be thinking about the whole page as an application instead of little bits of unrelated code. They might learn about javascript objects, how to create them, how to do inheritance. They will probably have to confront closures and figure out how that works too. They will find out about JSON and because of that, they will learn all the neat tricks about object literal notation. After a few months, they realise they are doing things in Javascript that were simply impossible in every other language they have used. And eventually, they will find themselves in a conversation where some developer says Javascript is *****, and they realise they have to defend it, because it's the coolest ***** thing they have ever used.I use ExtJS as a framework, which takes some effort to master, no question. But the results are just incredible. Have a look at some of their examples:http://www.extjs.com/And the documentation:http://www.extjs.com/deploy/dev/docs/With google committed to building an entire OS around Javascript, the future's looking pretty bright.

“I learned by using a straight (around a trampoline? wow!) hallway at work that was just a bit wider than my arm span. Not long afterward, a company*-wide memo went out saying to knock it off with the juggling and unicycling at work. Awwwww, but I was only doing it after hours!* Mid-to-late 70's, Intermetrics Inc, Cambridge, MA. Intermetrics underwent several mergers and purchases, until its remnants were bought in 2002 by Hewlett-Packard, where I was working at the time.

It's called spinning reserve, it been known about for years and it comes with every new wind power installation, not just in China. But nobody ever talks about this little known fact. Wind power is not really a viable energy alternative, it's not reliable. Ask the Dutch..
admit it, you just wanted tech support! (sobs)!

I'm So Happy!! that, I saw these pictures.?
Perhaps Rich was talking about the long-term fate of the Greeks in Afghanistan. I mean, it is one thing to plow through and set up a government. It is another to create a government that will survive the inevitable reaction of the Afghan people. The Russians set up a government there, and it did well, for a little while. BTW, it sounds like you read a really, really simplified version of Alexander's exploits. |

I have to admit I agree. I had no idea which would survive: the plastic 21st century POS or the 100% US steel car from the Golden Age. |
