| No, there's no such thing as "too efficient" in economics. An actual market would, at first, have an increase in unemployment due to a decrease in the cost of technology. However, once the supply of labor shots up the price will shoot down and it will be useful to hire again. Or people will start creating new businesses because they know finding labor won't be difficult. Equilibrium will be restored after a while. |

Who the ***** fights with big wooden boards? What happened to the good old fashioned shootout?
Because that reason ("too big to fail") was never the reason in the first place. Goldman Sachs was bailed out but it was by no means one of the largest banks about to fail.Let them all fail.

“Imagine this then: Download a few copies of the brains of the best scientists on planet Earth. Copy them into a vast network of over 10,000 CPU's (each one running a single copy of that brain). Imagine 10,000 simulations of the best minds on Earth, all networked together... running 24 hours per day, at hyper-human speeds, without physical limitations, and see what they come up with! Better yet: do the same with the brains of the best computer scientists and electronics-hardware engineers, and give them a single task: build a network/computer that is better than you. When that second generation is built, then give it the same task: build a network/computer that is better than yourself. And so on and so on... it's possible that at that point you would have a sudden spike towards infinitely powerful computing machines, capable of simulating an intelligence billions of times more powerful than the human brain. Whether or not it would be truely "alive" or have legal rights would become irrelevant in that moment. It would simulate a hyper-intelligence so perfectly, that our own intelligence would seem like "dogs" compared to it. We would be easily out0manipulated and outsmarted by it. (It could run perfect simulations of your loved ones and call you on the phone, or manipulate you into doing pretty much what it wanted.) That point in time, in which simulated computing intelligence spikes towards infinity is known as a "singularity". Dr. Ray Kurzweil, and Dr. Hans Moravec have been predicting this since the early to mid 1990's. (There stuff is amazing to read.) Also an incredible mind blowing read: Dr. Eric Drexler's predictions about Nanotechnology. (He too began predicting this stuff in the early 1990's).

Exactly, the spotter isn't there to lift the full weight on a split second notice. They are there to help relieve a few pounds if the person can't lift the weight due to maxing out or just being worn out. If the entire weight is dropped by the person doing the work out, the spotter has no chance of catching it all..
It's kind of like electric cars. You aren't really helping the environment by using them, you are just told you are to make you feel good about yourself. In reality, making that car is doing more damage than good. And where is that electricity coming from to power that car? It all goes back to the same old methods....with every 'green' movement, it's just a cover up of the same old thing.!

It seemed slightly ironic that she said that, considering that entire stupid sketch was revolving around these biker chicks using the word "freakin'" about 200 times.I still rewound the DVR to see the look on her face right after she said it though. That was the only funny part of the sketch.
